Tell us a bit about yourself and your shop.
My shop truly is an extension of my personality: quirky, whimsical, colourful and sweet yet a bit strange. I am a filmmaker by trade and a crafter by heart and my shop is a reflection of my commitment to fill the world with handmade goods and soulful art.

Why did you choose Etsy to sell your items?
Because it reaches so many persons from so many different areas of the world, it is a global community and at the same time, it is a very homely community. It's been wonderful to realize through Etsy and the people who buy/sell there that we are all brothers and sisters in craft.

What are your favorite materials/techniques and why?
I love embroidery floss, paper, 35mm photography, watercolours, needles, my pink sewing machine. I could go on and on, each medium allows me to express myself and from different materials come different ideas and projects that always keep me going, I also like bringing in new materials and techniques (soon I will attempt to crochet, which has been in my plans forever), because it allows me to explore what I am capable of and push my boundaries.

Tell us briefly the stages of processing of your products.
Sometimes I see a particular piece of fabric and I build my embroidery around it, sometimes I sketch a few drawings and some of them turn into embroidery and sometimes people would inspire a piece, for example, last Christmas I made an embroidery portrait of Coronation Street's Dot for my mother-in-law which is something I wouldn't have thought of making, but her love for that show was the inspiration behind that piece. My paintings come from somewhere else, like the way some people write poetry, it is a very instinctive, organic process.

Do you think people should buy handmade? Why?
Absolutely. People should buy handmade because it is unique, because it comes from the heart and it is good for the planet and because we all need to break from the cookie-cutter pattern of malls and big corporations and appreciate uniqueness and the craft and art made with human hearts, human hands.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
Professionally, working in the arts, exhibiting my work in museums and galleries in Canada and elsewhere. And personally, I'd like to be a mum!
